Join us as we explore one of the oldest residential suburbs in Des Moines with houses dating back to the 1880s. The Sherman Hill District is one of the oldest residential suburbs in Des Moines with houses dating back to the 1880s. The 80 acre district has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979. The architecture is varied but primarily Victorian and the neighborhood is home to the famous Hoyt Sherman Place.  Our friendly knowledgeable host will share the local stories of this important area. Get to know Des Moines’ past better, through the Sherman Hill District.

  • One moderate hill in the neighborhood along the route
